Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the most important modalities of an integrated system of primary health care, known as Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is an effective, natural and increasing popular form of treatment, which involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific sites (acupuncture points). These points are located on the body’s meridians (channels) and clear energy blockages to promote the body’s self-healing process.
Dry needling is different to acupuncture and is used specifically to treat muscle related soreness. Depending on your condition dry needling may be added to your treatment.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a chinese technique used in conjunction with acupuncture. It is the burning of moxa (mugwort plant) applied directly to acupuncture points to facilitate healing. Mugwort has a unique warming quality, allowing it to invigorate and tonify the body.It facilitates the flow of Qi and blood, body fluids and increases organ function. Moxa is clinically effective for common conditions such as; fatigue, acute and chronic pain (back pain, frozen shoulder etc), digestive disorders (diarrhoea, IBS), asthma, gynaecological disorders and sexual dysfunction.
Cupping and Gua Sha
Cupping is an ancient medical treatment that relies on the vacuum application of glass cups to the body. This creates a local suction to mobilise blood flow, redistributing the energy and blood within the body, unblocking the meridians to promote healing.
Gua Sha involves repeated pressured strokes over lubricated skin with a smooth edge. As a result some superficial painless bruising may occur. These techniques are used to treat a variety of illnesses, reduce fever, muscle tension and pain, promote blood circulation, and improve the efficiency of the body to deliver nutrients and remove waste.
Herbal medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is the other most important modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Chinese herbs are used to clear imbalance, harmonise body systems and strengthen the immune system. There are over 400 commonly used herbs, most of which are from stems, roots, barks, flowers, twigs, fruits, sap of plants, animal parts, shells, insects and minerals. Our clinic is dedicated to protecting wildlife and does not use any endangered, banned or extinct products from Australia or China.Chinese herbal medicine and tonics are very effective and can help you feel different in a matter of days.
